INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz is expected to miss multiple weeks with a knee injury he suffered in Sunday’s 27-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Ertz went down in the first quarter and walked off gingerly on his own power but put his head in his hands at one point. Teammates came over to him to slap his shoulder pads and give him high-fives in support.
After being evaluated in the blue medical tent, Ertz was carted to the locker room.
The Cardinals suspect that Ertz’s ACL is still intact, but he will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the full extent of his injury, the source said.
After the game, Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said he didn’t know the severity of the injury beyond that it was a knee issue.
“Yeah, it’s tough,” Kingsbury said. “He’s a huge part of our team, leader, work ethic, all those things and tremendous player so you hate to see that.”
